Buddle Place is nestled on the most southerly tip of the Isle of Wight near St Catherine’s Lighthouse, built in 1838 following the loss of the ship ‘The Clarendon’ on rocks close to St Catherine’s point.

There are seasonal tours of the lighthouse with a climb of 94 steps to the lantern at the top, the main light, turning every 5 seconds is visible up to 30 miles away.

The village of Niton, a ten minute walk from Buddle Place, has a good local grocery store, chemist, post office (serving great cream teas), deli and pub.

The Buddle Inn country pub is close by with its garden and sea views.

Steephill Cove is ten minutes drive from Buddle Place - accessible only along a path, the cove is well worth a visit for its sandy beach and delicious crab & seafood lunches from The Boathouse Restaurant and Wheeler’s Crab Shed.

The Isle of Wight has more than 500 miles of signposted footpaths, the coastal paths that run through the Undercliff on this side of the Island are some of the most scenic while more than half of the Island is recognised as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
